Craftworkers
UNISON has 20,000 members across the public services who are craftworkers. Craftworkers are often unseen and undervalued. The role they play in the smooth and safe running of any organisation is pivotal. Estates management and maintenance are a core element of any organisation impacting on users, staff, customers image and service delivery.
UNISON's local government unit holds an annual national meeting and has craft members on national committees representing the views of craftworkers around the country. We also produce a cross service group newsletter called Craft Matters. Copies are available from your branch secretary.
Additionally we issue regular bulletins to craft members and we have a e mail and craft contact list. If you would to be part of this please email Marilyn Bailey or telephone 020 7551 1789.
The
Local Government Employers Organisation has some interesting webpages on craft workers.

ISA - staff side principles
The following principles have been drawn up in partnership by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), GMB, Royal College of Midwives (RCM) Royal College of Nursing (RCN), National Union of Teachers (NUT), Society of Radiographers, UNISON and Unite.
They relate to the introduction of the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA).
All of the organisations support the principle of safe and effective public protection, and our
principles seek to reflect this, but also identify areas of concern surrounding
the approach and implementation of the ISA scheme.
