Cymru/Wales UNISON Labour Link

The UNISON Labour-Link in Wales works closely with the Welsh Assembly. It has established a UNISON group of Labour Assembly Members (AMs) and works with them, providing briefings and lobbying on many key issues affecting UNISON members.UNISON is represented on the Labour Party Welsh Executive Committee by Wales political contact Eddie Gabrielsen.UNISON Labour-Link plays an important role in the Labour party policy making process, ensuring that UNISON policy is promoted in all responses to the Wales policy consultative documents. UNISON Labour-Link has also contributed to the drafting of the document from the party on health and social services. We continue to work with the Wales Labour party on promoting joint training, which supports our members and activists at constituency, county and regional level.

National assembly for Wales

The UNISON Labour group continues to meet on a regular basis to discuss issues of major concern to UNISON members, including PFI, Best Value, increases in health and local government spending, as well as housing stock transfer. UNISON Assembly Members are also working hard within the Labour group to try to mitigate some of the policies such as PFI.
