The NHS is a public service we can all be proud of, and UNISON wants to keep it that way.
Record investment and service modernisation have delivered real improvements in the services offered to patients - services which remain free at the point of use.
But the introduction of competition and the increasing involvement of the private sector is putting our NHS at risk.
The government's market style reforms have led to instability and financial debt, the closure of wards and job losses.
NHS patients and staff share our concerns that more changes could undermine the quality of healthcare.
UNISON is calling on the government to stop expanding the role of the private sector in the NHS, and to call a halt to unnecessary and untested reforms.
We want a period of stability. We want to keep the NHS working.
Our response is based around answering most of the questions contained in the consultation and focuses primarily on those areas where we feel the Constitution could be strengthened.
