Keep the NHS working
The NHS is a public service we can all be proud of, and UNISON wants to keep it that way.

Record investment and service modernisation have delivered real improvements in the services offered to patients - services which remain free at the point of use.

But the introduction of competition and the increasing involvement of the private sector is putting our NHS at risk.

The government's market style reforms have led to instability and financial debt, the closure of wards and job losses.

NHS patients and staff share our concerns that more changes could undermine the quality of healthcare.

UNISON is calling on the government to stop expanding the role of the private sector in the NHS, and to call a halt to unnecessary and untested reforms.

We want a period of stability. We want to keep the NHS working.

Say YES to 5

Support our 5 healthier options for the NHS. NHS organisations across England are being forced to make cuts which affect patient services. Trusts have been told by the government that they have to achieve financial balance by the end of the year and are having to cut jobs and services in order to meet this target. We believe that there is another way for the NHS.

I love the NHS....
"I love the NHS because they saved me from certain death following a massive heart attack.

Also, when my wife of 36 years was terminally ill with cancer, the NHS, Exeter, looked after her diligently and with expertise and patience."
Sir Ranulph Fiennes (explorer)
