Twinning between a UNISON branch or region and a union in another country is a practical way of developing the union's international work through exchanging information and experiences, developing mutual support and improving awareness of each others countries and unions. Twinning can operate in different ways depending on what both parties hope to achieve. Currently UNISON branches and regions are twinned with unions in South Africa, Cuba, Colombia and various European countries.
