We are proud of the work that our branches and regions undertake on solidarity links with trade unionists in other countries and raising awareness at home on international issues and events.
TwinningTwinning between a UNISON branch or region and a union in another country is a practical way of developing the union's international work through exchanging information and experiences, developing mutual support and improving awareness of each others countries and unions. more..Branch international relations officerThe role of the branch international relations officer (BIRO) is to encourage among branch members an awareness of UNISON policy on international matters and an understanding of the importance of international issues to everyone. more..Regional international officerEach region may appoint an officer to coordinate the region’s international work, encourage and train branch international officers and work in partnership with its regional international committee. more..Urgent actionsUNISON responds to requests to speak out when trade unionists and workers are under threat. You can subscribe to receive urgent actions. more..International seminarUNISON holds an international weekend seminar twice a year to enable branch and regional international officers to hear more about international developments and the work of the International Relations Unit. The seminar also provides activists with an opportunity to exchange information and network with other UNISON activists as well as hear about international work in the regions. more..International newsletterUNISON produces a quarterly newsletter on international issues, updates on current international activities and suggestions on international projects and campaigns in the union.
