Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
The Chief Executive, Dickon Weir-Hughes, has resigned from his position with immediate effect. The NMC's Director of Fitness for Practice, Jackie Smith, in the interim, will be Acting Chief Executive and Registrar until the Council decides its future arrangements.
UNISON wishes Dickon all the best for the future and acknowledges all the good work he done during his time at the NMC.
However, we remain deeply concerned about the NMC, Dickon becomes the fifth chief executive to leave the NMC in 6 years.
We will work closely with the NMC and Government during this period of uncertainty, a long term solution must be found urgently.
