NHS staff praised for beating weather
UNISON praised Epsom and St Helier NHS trust in Greater London, after it announced that all the hospital staff who struggled into work last Monday would get an extra day's leave.

At the same time, the trust agreed that no staff who couldn't make it to work would lose any pay.

UNISON regional officer Michael Walker said: "The capital has witnessed some of the worst weather for 20 years and yet thousands of dedicated NHS staff battled their way into work to keep the service going."
