UNISON seeks "new social settlement" on pay
"Now is not the time to batten down the hatches," on public services, UNISON general secretary Dave Prentis warned at the union's annual pay seminar.

With the credit crunch and recession, he said, "our people are at the mercy of a system which bails out bankers and their billions of pounds in profits, but agonises over helping ordinary people," added Mr Prentis.
