| UNISON: A MESSAGE FROM GENERAL SECRETARY DAVE PRENTIS | |
| 15 December 2011 | |
Thank you: you made history on 30 NovemberI wanted to write all our UNISON members to say a huge, personal thank you to all of you who took strike action, or provided emergency cover on the day of the strike. You made history. You made your presence felt and your voices heard. Many of you had never taken strike action before, and I know it was a hard decision to make. But your courage and determination inspired many of your colleagues, and new members were queuing up to join UNISON in the run-up to the strike - and even more so on the day itself. Our show of strength and unity had the effect that was intended on the ministers, too. It made them engage in serious negotiations on public service pensions. The negotiations are continuing and will carry on right up to Christmas and beyond. We are determined to reach an agreement for a fair deal on pensions for all of you. Events can change rapidly in these talks, so keep checking our website for up-to-date information on how they are progressing. And meanwhile, keep talking to your colleagues - recruit as many new members as you can to strengthen our voice. Join UNISON here. Here's to a successful outcome to our campaign in 2012. Best wishes, ![]() Dave Prentis General Secretary For more information on the campaign go to our pension campaign web pages. |
