Our members include learning support staff, librarians, IT specialists, technicians, professional staff, administrative and business support staff, cleaners, canteen staff and estate management staff. What we are doing nowSIXTH FORM COLLEGES PAY UPDATE(20/06/2008) UNISON today submitted the 2008/9 pay claim for support staff in sixth form colleges.Sixth Form Colleges Handbook(24/10/07) The handbook of pay and conditions for support staff is now available in downloadable format. This handbook sets out all the issues and areas that have been agreed at national level between trade union and employers representatives. They set out minimum standards and there are instances where improvements have been made at local level.See Documents area to the right. Sixth form colleges pay offer(03/10/07) A meeting of the Sixth Form Colleges Negotiating Committee took place yesterday to receive the response to UNISON’s claim for support staff.Sixth form colleges pay update(26/06/07) UNISON today submitted the 2007/8 pay claim for support staff in sixth form colleges.Sixth Form Colleges Pay Offer(19/09/06) At today’s meeting of the Sixth Form Colleges Negotiating Committee, the Employers side made their first and final offer of a 2.5% increase on all salary points backdated to 1 September 2006. They did not make any offers in respect of the other aspects of UNISON’s claim.UNISON expressed disappointment at the low level of the offer and stated that it failed to meet our members’ expectations. UNISON has demonstrated the growing differentials between teaching and support staff in the sector and that this offer does nothing to rectify this trend. We were also very disappointed that the employer failed to address the issue of low pay in the sector. Sixth Form Pay(10/07/2006) UNISON today submitted the 2006/7 pay claim for support staff in sixth form colleges. The key points of the claim were:· An 6.1% increase on all salary scales and allowances combined with deletion of the bottom two points of the salary scale · A minimum wage of £6 per hour London Weighting in Sixth Form Colleges(03/05/06)Negotiations took place today on the increase in London weighting and fringe allowances in sixth form colleges from September 2005. The negotiations had been delayed because of the impasse in negotiations on the teachers committee.Sixth Form Colleges Offer(22/12/2005)Negotiations continued today on the Sixth Form Colleges pay award for 2005/6. The employers made a final offer on the following package.Save the Local Government Pension Scheme(26/9/05) Last week at the start of negotiations, the local government employers announced that they want to reduce LGPS benefits and increase employee contributions for at least two years. The changes apply to our members in local government, police, education, probation, meat hygiene, housing associations, Passenger Transport Executives, the Environment Agency the voluntary and private sectors.UNISON will now be pulling out all the stops to change the employers' minds and organise industrial action if we can't make them see sense.
