Training

UNISON has a dedicated website for training called Skills4schools, an online resource to help school staff access learning opportunities at work. By providing an online guide to training, development and career pathways, we aim to help staff develop in their current roles, make the move to new ones and take advantage of the new career opportunities created by the School Workforce Agreement.

The Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) is responsible for the training of the whole school workforce, even though the new Government is putting much more emphasis onto the training of teachers. The TDA has a dedicated area on support staff:

Time to Train: a UNISON report about school support staff training

(21/04/2009) UNISON produced a report on support staff training in England. This includes a detailed survey of local authority activities and their interaction with schools as well as the experience of support staff.
