Remodelling
UNISON members working in schools and education departments organise within local government branches. Any workplace issues or problems should be raised with the UNISON representative in the school or department (if there is one) or by contacting the UNISON branch at the local authority.

Most staff working in schools and local authority education departments are on local government pay and conditions. You can get more information on conditions in individual local authorities and schools from your local UNISON branch office.

UNISON works at regional level through regional officers who support branches.

WAMG Guidance Note 19

(13/3/2008) WAMG Note 19 (attached, Welsh version available) is an update on work programmes and priorities reported in WAMG Note 15, April 2006. It reviews the last five years in social partnership for remodelling of the school workforce. It claims that according to Ofsted and Estyn (Wales), teachers are more focused on teaching and learning and that support staff have new and enhanced roles. It describes the role of LSPs and key areas of activity over the coming months.

Branches are invited to send examples of good and bad LSP experience to: Education@unison.co.uk

WAMG Note 20 will be issued shortly with further detail on effective operation of LSPS.

WAMG Guidance Note 18

In July the Workforce Agreement Monitoring Group (WAMG) organised three conferences to bring together local social partnerships (LSPs). WAMG Note 18 summarises comments collected from nearly 500 delegates at these conferences. Over 5,000 individual comments were captured from delegates. This note summarises observations on the effectiveness of WAMG and LSPs and also details key themes and issues which delegates felt should be the subject of ongoing or enhanced focus of social partnership working, both nationally and locally.
