Anti-Academies Alliance

UNISON is continuing to work closely with Anti-Academies Alliance (AAA) in England on campaigns. The AAA is keen to provide speakers for branches and local schools meetings on Academies. Branches can also affiliate directly to the AAA.

The Secretary of State for Education, Michael Gove, is determined to axe the School Support Staff Negotiating Body which should have finalised its work on news terms for school support staff this year.

Advice on authorities “ceasing to maintain” schools converting to academies

The updated academies model recognition agreement agreed by UNISON, ATL, GMB, NASUWT, NUT and Unite can be used when approaching either a new academy or a school which is still considering academy status. There is also a model letter to headteachers which can be used to introduce the agreement.

Free Schools – a UNISON briefing

Many Hands Make Lunch Work

(03/10/2009)We have updated the versions of the Many Hands Make Lunch Work leaflet and poster. These take into account the new nutritional standards introduced in England from September 2009 but could also be used to advise on new service standards that have been introduced in Scotland, Northern Ireland or Wales. It also gives a brief campaign update.
