(16/12/2011)Further to circular HE 27/11 the result of the pay consultation was that a significant majority of branches agreed to note the offer. UNISON will be writing to the university employers to confirm our position.
We expect that all HE unions will be in a position to accept or note the offer early in the new year and that universities will be able to pay the award in the January pay roll. Details of the full settlement will be sent in the new year.
We are aware that members will be disappointed with the pay award this year, particularly in light of the continued increases in the cost of living.

Model Response to Changes to Universities Superannuation Scheme
(06/12/2010)Please find below a link to a model response that branches can use in the consultation on proposed changes to the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS).Pay Consultation Result
(22/10/2010)The pay consultation results for this year reveal that 79.5% of members voted in favour of accepting the offer. This year 49 branches voted to accept whilst six voted to reject, on a 31% turnout. Accompanying feedback suggested that whilst members thought that the 0.4% offer was very poor; their main priority is the protection of jobs and services. At the start of this month UNISON’s national Higher Education Service Group Executive (HESGE) agreed to hold back our consultation results to allow further discussions to take place with the national employers at ACAS. Unfortunately these talks made no progress on pay and the employers remain adamant that there is no more money available. Indeed they suggested that if all unions rejected the offer then they expected pressure from their members to withdraw the current offer, in the light of recent funding cuts. The HESGE met on the 21st October to discuss the results of the consultation and decided that the clear result meant that the offer should be accepted and to inform the employers accordingly. The HESGE also noted that whilst UNISON members have indicated that they are ready to settle that other unions are still involved in disputes or internal consultations and we will aim to work together and avoid potential divisions the best we can over the coming period. The HESGE has also made it clear that we will continue to press for a national intervention around cuts to jobs and services
