Fighting Redundancies

Hard working men and women across the country are being made redundant as a result of a global recession caused by the greed and irresponsibility of the few.

College staff are on the frontline dealing with this recession - helping people who have been made redundant reskill and retrain to help them back in to work. Yet despite this we are also seeing a wave of job losses across FE colleges.

UNISON is determined to fight these job cuts and to campaign for a more just society. Now is the time to build a fairer society and a more balanced and sustainable economy - based on social justice, good jobs, and quality public services'.

Adult Further Education Funding Cuts England - Avoiding Redundancies

The Association of Colleges (AoC) is warning that adult funding cuts in 2010/11 could lead to up to 7000 job losses in FE colleges across England. UNISON will fight these funding cuts and any attempt by colleges to make such large scale redundancies. The intention of this briefing is to provide UNISON reps with key arguments to use locally when campaigning to protect jobs.
