UNISON members working in colleges in England are set to vote on this year’s pay deal.

Postal ballot on college pay

UNISON is holding a full postal ballot on the Association of Colleges (AoC) final pay recommendation for 2008/09. Ballot papers will be sent to the home addresses of all UNISON members employed in further education (FE) colleges in England from 14 August. The ballot closes at 10am on Monday 8 September.

Campaigning Alliance for Lifelong Learning

Rising charges and course cut backs have seen two million learners' places lost from further and adult education in England since 2005. Now groups representing students, staff and local communities have come together to campaign for the right of everyone to access to learning irrespective of class, gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, asylum status or employment. UNISON is a founder of this campaign.

(29/07/08) UNISON is producing a leaflet and poster for college reps to use to encourage members to vote in the FE pay consultative ballot (England).

FE consultative ballot – 25th July deadline for updating membership records

(18/07/2008) Branch and college reps have just one week left to update membership records in advance of the FE pay consultative ballot. Details for individual members (names addresses) etc have to be checked, and if necessary amended, by the final deadline of Friday 25 July.

FE final pay offer – full consultative postal ballot of every member announced

(03/07/2008) The UNISON FE National Committee has decided to hold a full consultative postal ballot of every FE member in England on the AoC’s final pay offer.

Good case studies and Introduction to leadership

(24/06/2008) UNISON is looking for good case studies around Black Minority Ethic staff and collaborative working. Does your college have a good record around BME staff? Is it doing some good work with the Trade Unions on things such as community cohesion, race equality, BME workforce development etc? Final pay offer for further education workers

(23/06/08) Association of Colleges (AoC) makes an improved pay offer of 3.2%, or £550 - whichever is higher - from 1 October 2008.
