Our members in the Environment Agency range from executive directors to manual workers and everything in between.
The majority work in clerical, administrative, technical, professional and scientific jobs. The agency is the largest environmental public sector body in the UK, employing more than 11,000 people. It is the official environmental regulator for inland and coastal water quality, waste disposal, air quality, industrial processes and in addition it operates the nation’s emergency flood defence workforce.
UNISON is the largest trade union recognised by the agency and consequently UNISON organises the negotiations and consultative machinery and takes the lead role on all employment related issues. Among UNISON's priorities for agency members are workplace health and safety, pay and conditions including equal pay, social inclusion and diversity promotion and training and development.
