Stop the BNP

UNISON is standing up to the politics of hate

On Thursday 4 June every union member will be given the chance to stop the BNP and the politics of hate by voting in the European elections.

Where the BNP are active, racist attacks rise
In Barking racist attacks rose by 30% when the BNP targeted the area with their hateful propaganda.
In contrast, racist attacks have fallen across the rest of London where there is little BNP presence.

The BNP on women
"Rape is simply sex. Women enjoy sex, so rape cannot be such a terrible physical ordeal."
"Some women are like gongs - they need to be struck regularly."
- Nick Eriksen, BNP London Assembly candidate, Evening Standard 01/04/08

The BNP in your workplace
On 22 April this year NHS nurses spoke up in the Nursing Times to defend their right to be members of the BNP.
"The British National Party is not in any way, shape or form 'racist' and this terrible smear is indicative of the extremist, far-left, totalitarian ideology behind Unison and its Labour connections."
"The British National Party is a legal, registered, political party. It does not tolerate racism or hate in any form, and seeks to protect the history, culture, human rights, and future of the indigenous people of the British Isles."

4 June elections
The BNP threat is strongest in the North West, West Midlands, Yorkshire and Humber, East of England, London and the East Midlands.
A low voter turnout will let the BNP win seats in the European parliament.

It is a UNISON priority to stop the racist party winning any seats. Let's show everyone what UNISON members are made of. Use your vote and help us kick the BNP out of Europe.
Take action

Vote to keep the BNP out on 4 June
You have the chance to send a clear message to the BNP: Keep out, you're poison. Use your vote to stop the BNP sowing its seeds of hate in our community. Use your vote to stop the BNP from destroying our democracy. Use your vote to protect our public services and the workers who provide them.
