'Campaigning against slavery' takes the audience on a visual journey through history from the time of the Transatlantic Slave Trade to slavery in contemporary society. It also looks at how slavery has been challenged through popular campaigning and by the development of international standards to prohibit them. These panels are available to view here.
'Recovered Histories' looks at the Transatlantic Slave Trade, the enslavement of Africans in the Caribbean, and their fight for liberation and their emancipation. It focuses on the narratives of the enslaved, enslavers, abolitionists, parliamentarians, clergy, planters and rebels. It is based on Anti-Slavery International's collection of 18th and 19th century literature which it has recently digitised and made available through Recovered Histories.
While we work to tackle the racism and inequality that is the legacy of the Transatlantic Slave Trade, it is also vital that we campaign and work to end modern day slavery and exploitation. On 23 August, you can raise awareness of modern day forms of slavery, through posters, factsheets, postcards and more.
