2009 UNISON LGBT Conference
2009 UNISON LGBT Conference was the largest ever and early indications are that people thought it was very good. Many thanks to all who contributed to its success. There will be a report in the January InFocus magazine.
Congratulations to the Highland Branch and Greater London Region LGBT groups who were joint winners of the inaugural LGBT recruitment awards.
Regional LGBT groups are asked to evaluate the conference - we look forward to responses in the new year. The record of decisions will be on the website soon. You can buy the conference DVD for £10 from QED, Lancaster Road, New Barnet, Herts EN4 8AS or phone 020 8441 7722. |
LGBT workplace experiences survey
Whether you are out or not, being LGBT can affect your working life in positive and negative ways. UNISON's LGBT committee wants to find out about your experiences to assist us in our work to improve members' working lives. Complete the survey at http://survey.unison.co.uk/login.asp?survey=UNISON_LGBT_survey_2009 - it should only take five minutes or so. |
Out now in UNISON
A spate of new UNISON LGBT publications were launched at LGBT conference - all available under 'recent documents' on our webpages http://www.unison.org.uk/out. They include the latest issue of Out in UNISON, the national LGBT committee's annual report, and new briefings on LGBT health equality and our LGBT strategy against the far right. |
TUC bisexual trade unionists survey
The TUC LGBT committee is surveying union members who identify as bisexual, to establish the main issues, so action can be taken to address concerns. Click on the link to complete the survey http://www.unison.org.uk/out/pages_view.asp?did=10252 |
Your experiences with the police
Age Concern are working with the Metropolitan Police on a new training resource for police personnel looking at the history of the relationship between older LGB and T people and the police. Do you have any stories or experiences to tell about interaction with the police, good or bad, recent or in the past? If so and you are willing to be included in the pack as a case history, contact Janella McCrea at Janella.McCrea@met.police.uk by mid December. |
Equality in the lifelong learning sector: sexual orientation, faith or belief
If you've faced challenges because of sexual orientation, belief or faith, Lifelong Learning UK invite you to take part in a research project on staff and learners' experiences. This is to support and promote equality and diversity in the lifelong learning sector. Complete the survey at www.lluk.org/managing-equality.htm. Contact Phil Barnet by the end of December on philbarnett100@aol.com to take part in a focus group or be interviewed. |
