Conference on LGBT equality in post-school education - Birmingham - 24 March
A working conference on how to promote sexual orientation and gender identity equality in post school education. Organised by the Forum for sexual orientation and gender identity equality in post-school education, which includes education unions and of which UNISON is a founder member. The day will offer practical guidance and problem solving through information/speakers and breakout sessions. Sessions include 12 steps to equality and how to use the Forum's guidance on trans equality. More at http://www.unison.org.uk/out

UNISON has launched its own dedicated web pages to help regions and branches mobilise for the G20 demonstration in central London on 28 March. UNISON general secretary, Dave Prentis, has urged members to go on the march to "protest against job losses and the threat to public services as hardworking families foot the bill for bailing out the banking system across the UK and beyond." HOPE not hate campaign is calling a trade union day of action as part of the campaign to prevent the BNP from winning seats in the European Elections. Prioritisation of motions at National Delegate Conference
The preliminary agenda for this year's UNISON national delegate conference will be published soon. Regions will then be agreeing which motions they want to see prioritised for debate. Last year, neither of the LGBT conference motions were heard, so lobby for your region to include at least one of the LGBT conference motions in its priorities. Motion numbers not yet available but titles are 'Non-Discrimination in Publicly Funded Services' and 'Making Rights real'.

Migrant workers photo exhibition
UNISON has commissioned a series of photos to celebrate the work of migrant staff in the UK's public sector. The display can be used to raise awareness of the role played by migrants in delivering public services and to encourage migrant workers to join UNISON. It is accompanied by postcards of the images and is available to lend out to regions over the next year.
